CCHL Mourns Loss of Chris Morgan

Ottawa, Ont. —

The Central Canada Hockey League and its member organizations are mourning the untimely passing of Chris Morgan, a 22 year-old who spent two seasons with the Gloucester Rangers.

“The reaction anytime events like this occur is obviously shock and sadness,” said CCHL director of operations Sean Marcellus. “Chris spent two strong seasons in our league and had a bright future — the CCHL sends many thoughts and prayers to the Morgan family during this difficult time.”

Morgan appeared in 120 games with the Rangers from 2013 to 2015.

Sylvain Favreau, Morgan’s head coach in Gloucester, paid tribute to his former defenceman.

“Chris was a fierce competitor and definitely a ‘glue’ guy on our team,” said Favreau. “He was a great kid, always had a smile on, (and) his work ethic was second to none — he will be sadly missed by the hockey community on both sides of the border.”

A Michigan native, Morgan played in 34 games over the past two seasons with NCAA D-III Northland College.
