The Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) announces the sale of a new Pembroke Lumber Kings membership, marking an important milestone for one of the league’s most historic organizations.
The transaction was unanimously approved by the CCHL Board of Governors following a thorough review process.
The League welcomes Brian Johnstone as the new owner of the Pembroke Lumber Kings. We are very excited to start this new chapter of this historic membership. Pembroke used to be one of the most intimidating places for away teams to play in the CCHL. Our fan base is simply amazing, and we are looking forward to welcoming the fans back to the PMC at the Pembroke Lumber Kings home opener, Sept 27th vs Brockville Braves.”
Joining Brian is Tanya Tompkins, who will oversee Community and Business Operations. Together, they represent a leadership group committed to providing a first-class environment for players, strengthening the organization’s connection to the Pembroke community, and building on the proud tradition of Lumber Kings hockey.

Today’s announcement reflects a unified commitment to ensuring that tradition continues while creating new opportunities for the organization to grow and thrive. We are pleased to welcome Brian Johnstone, and Tanya Tompkins as the new stewards of the Pembroke Lumber Kings and look forward to working alongside them as they build on the club’s proud tradition.”
The Pembroke Lumber Kings have long been a cornerstone of the CCHL, contributing significantly to the league’s history, tradition, and reputation for developing players while serving the Pembroke community. The CCHL remains committed to preserving that legacy while supporting the club’s next chapter under its new leadership.
