Barrhaven player looking to take his game to the Cosmos
Barrhaven native Costa Georgitsos, age 17, grew-up watching the Raiders' and, in early September, was acquired by the Nepean in a trade from the Brockville Braves. He was designated as an AP (affiliate player) and assigned to the Winchester Hawks Jr. 'B' team by Raiders' head coach Peter Goulet.
Costa currently attends Grade 12 at John McCrae Secondary School. He has lived in Barrhaven his entire life. His father's name is Angelo, moon is Olga, and he has a twin sister Eleni.
Georgitsos practices regularly with Jr 'A' club, and has, so far, played in two CCHL games this season (wearing jersey #6).
To learn a little bit more about Costa Georgitsos, the Barrhaven Independent asked this future Nepean Raider 10 questions .
BI: Who is your favourite Sens player / NHL player
CG: My favourite Senator would have to be (centre) Kyle Turris. I like the way he competes and (that he) is a complete player. He also has a lot of skill and a great work ethic. My favourite NHL player would Sidney Crosby, who's a great leader and fun to watch.
BI: Who do you pattern your style of play after?
CG: I try to pattern my game after (Philadelphia Flyers) Claude Giroux. He is an offensive minded centreman that is reliable and a leader.
BI: What is your favourite Barrhaven-area restaurant?
CG: That would be Cosmos Souvlaki (196 Greenbank Rd.). They have the best Greek food in the area.
BI: If you could have dinner with any three famous people, who would you choose?
CG: Mario Lemieux (My all-time favourite hockey player). Ice Cube (My favourite actor, he would make me laugh a lot). Paul Bissonnette (Another hockey player with a great sense of humour).
BI: What is your usual pre-game meal?
CG: Chicken with potatoes and salad.
BI: Your favourite meal at home?
CG: That's a tough question, however, I really enjoy when my dad cooks a great steak on the barbecue.
BI: What do you want for Christmas?
CG: A laptop computer. New clothes.
BI: Where do you like to shop for clothes?
CG: I like to go to Bayshore. I have a few favourite stores I like to go shopping at.
BI: Hockey wise, where would you like to be in five years? What would you like to do after hockey, whenever that may be?
CG: Would like to be playing at the highest level of hockey possible, wherever that may be. After hockey I would like to be either a police officer or a firefighter. I would also like to give back and become involved in the hockey community.
BI: Who was the best minor hockey coach you ever had?
CG: That would have to be Jeff Jordan (Major Midget Ottawa Senators AAA) last season. We had a very successful team. It was always a pleasure showing up to the rink. We won the city championships and finished second in provincials.
