A CCHL Original Article | Alumni Spotlight
Although there are only two Central Canada Hockey League alumni currently skating in the NCAA Big Ten Conference, there is no doubt Liam Folkes and Kris Myllari are a couple of the best at the college hockey level. Both skating with the Penn State Nittany Lions and heading into their Senior seasons, the expectations are high as they look to build on already successful careers.
Heading into 2019-20, Brockville Braves goaltender Liam Souliere will join Folkes and Myllari at Penn State where the reigning CCHL Goaltender of the Year will be a welcomed addition and battle for playing time behind three-year starter Peyton Jones.
F – Liam Folkes (JR) – Penn State University
The Scarborough, ON native and Brockville Braves alumni has shown steady progression in each of his three seasons at Penn State. This past season was by far his most successful in the point production department as he finished third on the Nittany Lions with 42 points (18G, 24A), and was a +20 in 39 games of action. Going into his Senior year, Folkes will look to continue helping to drive the offense upfront with returning leading scorer Alex Limoges and Chicago Blackhawks prospect Evan Barratt. Folkes is currently attending the New York Islanders Development Camp.
D – Kris Myllari (JR) – Penn State University
Just like Folkes, the former Kanata Stallions (Lasers) defenseman has seen progression each year at Penn State. Myllari totaled 21 points (7G, 14A) in 2018-19, which was 2nd among Nittany Lions blue-liners while sporting an impressive +19 rating. He will be leaned on even more heavily this upcoming season as expectations just get bigger.
