Alumni News | Six from CCHL nominated for Hobey Baker

 

Ottawa, ON – With 60 teams and over 1,600 players, NCAA Ice Hockey is one of the largest development leagues for prospective professional hockey players in the world.  Each season, one player is selected and recognized as being the best among his peers and awarded the illustrious Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

This season, six CCHL alumni are up for the award, including Max Veronneau, Ryan Kuffner, Johnathan Kovacevic, Chase Pearson, Anthony Nellis, and Eric Israel. 

 

NOMINEES

 

MAX VERONNEAU | PRINCETON | SR

The Ottawa, ON native and alum of the Gloucester Rangers has totaled 24 points (7G, 17A) in 19 games this season, placing him 2nd on the Tigers in scoring.

 

RYAN KUFFNER | PRINCETON | SR

Another Ottawa, ON native and also former Gloucester Ranger, Kuffner is tops on the Tigers this season with 26 points (13G, 13A) in 19 games of action.

 

JOHNATHAN KOVACEVIC | MERRIMACK | JR

The Grimsby, ON native who spent time in the CCHL with both Ottawa and Hawkesbury sits tops among all Warriors defensemen with 12 points (4G, 8A) in 20 games played.

 

CHASE PEARSON | MAINE | JR

The Alpharetta, GA native and former Cornwall Colt leads all Black Bear skaters with 19 points (11G, 8A) in 21 games of action.

 

ANTHONY NELLIS | LAKE SUPERIOR STATE | SR

The Breakeyville, QC native and Pembroke Lumber Kings alumni is 2nd overall on the Lakers with 22 points (11G, 11A) in 22 games.

 

ERIC ISRAEL | ROBERT MORRIS | SR

The Huntington Woods, MI native and Brockville Braves alum is first among defensemen on the Colonials with 14 points (3G, 11A) in 18 games of action.
