NCAA D-I programs feature 317 alumni among current CJHL teams
TORONTO – A glance at the rosters of the 64 NCAA Division I programs show there are 317 Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) alumni competing.
Comprising this list are those who played a minimum of five games previously for any of the current 118 clubs, or those franchises who relocated elsewhere within their respective CJHL-member leagues.
Those former CJHLers are spread out among 62 of the NCAA D-I schools that features 42 goaltenders, 86 defencemen and 189 forwards competing and furthering their education.
Among those alumni are last season’s CJHL MVP & Top Forward award recipient Trevor Hoskin (Cobourg Cougars/OJHL).
Hoskin is in his freshman campaign at Niagara University in upstate New York.
Also on the list is netminder Noah Pak, who backstopped the Collingwood Blues (OJHL) to a Centennial Cup title back in May. Pak is in his first year at Yale.
Also featured are the six-pack of Owen Say, Notre Dame (Powassan Voodoos/NOJHL); Liam Souliere, Minnesota (Brockville Braves-Nepean Raiders/CCHL); Josh Kotai, Augustana (Battlefords North Stars/SJHL); Ben Charette, Harvard (Whitecourt Wolves/AJHL); Jared Whale, New Hampshire (Olds Grizzlys/AJHL) and Ty Outen, Long Island (Grand Falls Rapids/MHL), who are all on the Mike Richter Award Watch List for the top NCAA D-I goaltender this season.
