2024-25 Showcase Day #1 Recap

After an off season filled with trades, signings and player development the 2024-25 CCHL season is now underway.    The annual showcase, which was moved from the Bell Sensplex to the beautiful Benson Centre in Cornwall, ON, played host to teams looking to start the season off on a high note.    This is the only time all season all 12 of the leagues teams will be in one building at one time.   Scouts, whom certainly made there presence felt on day 1, were salivating at the thought of this.

This season was filled with some great questions; could Navan repeat as league champions?   Could Ottawa regain their championship form from years past?   Would a dark house take the league by storm and gain the title as league champs?   These questions and more will be answered in short order.

Some great matchups opened the season, and in total we saw 35 goals scored on day 1.     This was capped off by a pair of Eastern Ontario players with Brayden Besner (Hawkesbury; 2g,2a) and Bradley Fraser leading (Cornwall; 1g,3a) leading the way offensively.   Ian Vandenberg (Carleton Place; Shootout Loss & 0.970 %) was the top goalie.

We are back at it tomorrow for the final day of the showcase with another 6 games on the docket.   Games start at 12:30pm.
