Wednesday Recap | Ottawa and Nepean come on top

F | Ottawa 6, Hawkesbury 2

The Jr. Senators came out of the gates hard with three unanswered goals in the first five minutes of the game. Hawkesbury would pull Petizian at that point. They would score two more in the second before both teams would exchange goals later in the third period. Ottawa picked up their 41st win of the year while the Hawks dropped their third consecutive game.

Darcy Walsh and Finn Evans each had 1G/1A while McGregor set a new career high for goals in a  season and Lalonde scored his 24th of the year. In another note, Gabriel Morin scored his first goal of the season in his first game back from injury, which he suffered on September 27th 2017. Boulerice also scored his third goal in his last three games after not scoring a goal in the last three months.

For the Hawks, they loss their third consecutive game and are 0-2-1 over that span (13GA/6GF). Hawkesbury’s last win came on February 9th against Rockland (3-1). The only goals today came from Craig and Lavoie. Craig led the way on the score-sheet for the Hawks with 1G/1A which was his first two point game since September 16th.

F/OT | Nepean 4, Pembroke 3

After the Raiders took a 3-1 lead in the third period, the Lumber Kings stormed back to force OT for the second consecutive game after doing so against Navan on Sunday. Nepean would score in OT with Stagg getting the goal to win the game.

Nepean got back in the win column with the “W” tonight. They are now 2-3 since the start of February with seven games left in the season.  Stagg scored the overtime winner for his 8th of the year and his second GWG of the season.  He has also scored in back to back games for the first time in his career. Antoine Belisle also scored his 18th goal of the season.

With the loss, Pembroke is now 2-2-1 since the start of February. Jacob Kamps had 1G/1A and he now has three goals over his last four contests. Brendan Browne also set a new career high for points in a season after he picked up his 19th of the year and his 43rd point of the season. He previous high was 25G & 42 points last year with the Lumber Kings.
