Thursday Playoff Recap | Brockville Moves On

Kanata, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League saw four series go down last night, with one ending too soon. The Braves swept the Lasers in four games after a 4-2 win last night. Ottawa was unable to close out game five and Pembroke forced a game six. Hawkesbury and Carleton Place also took a 3-1 series lead.

F | Brockville 4, Kanata 2 | Braves Win Series 4-0

Holland would score first, giving the Braves the lead heading into the second but Sleeth tied the game 1-1 in the second, taking this game tied into the third period.

Faith and Jefferson scored back to back goals in the third. That gave Brockville a 3-1 lead but Kanata added one more to make the game interesting. Braves would add an empty netter to take the series via a sweep.

Holland scored 2G/1A while McArthur had 3A in the game. Evenson made 35 saves in the win as the Braves were outshot 37-31. Holland now has 4G/3A in his four playoff games.

Kanata’s two ’97 born forwards Sleeth and Rider scored in the loss. Congratulations to Lasers graduating players Tanner Schroeder, William Brochu, Connor Rider and Ryan Bunka who played their last Jr. A game last night.

F | Pembroke 4, Ottawa 3 | Ottawa Leads Series 3-2

After the game was nodded at one after one, Pembroke took control in the final three minutes of the second where they scored two unanswered goals from Barnaby and Arseneau. Ottawa would scored once in the third but it was not enough as Pembroke forced a game six.

Barnaby broke his nose in the first period and came back to score a beautiful goal in the second to give Pembroke the lead. Arseneau also had two goals in the game for his second two goal performance of the series. Smith was the answer, making 41 saves in the win.

In the loss, Ottawa’s Boulerice, Evans and Bisson scored. They out-shot Pembroke 44-22 and have out-shot them in all five games this series.  Ottawa went 0-5 on the power-play and Pembroke went 1-8.

F | Carleton Place 3, Rockland 0 | CP Leads Series 3-1

Carleton Place scored in the first, second and third period for the win. Reynolds had 1G/1A while Knoblauch and Cmunt scored. The Canadians outshot the Nats 38-22. Leach made 22 saves for the shut-out.

Rockland went 0-5 on the power-play and Storr made 35 saves in the loss.

F | Hawkesbury 3, Cornwall 1 | Hawks Lead Series 3-1. 

After no scoring through two periods, both teams exploded for goals in the third period.

Hawks Kari Belec scored the Hawks first and second goals, giving them a nice lead in the third. Tougas put the game away later on. Belec scored his first two playoff goals of his career.

In the loss, Cornwall was outshot 44-32. Pogue scored the only goal and Lascelle made 41 saves.
