Tanner Schroeder to Bryn Athyn NCAA D3 University

Ottawa, Ontario – The Central Canada Hockey League is proud to announce that ’97 born Kanata Lasers forward Tanner Schroeder has committed to NCAA-D3 Bryn Athyn College for the 2018-19 season.

Schroeder, 20, is in his second full season with the Lasers, scoring 25 points in 95 games since joining the team in 2016. The Ottawa, Ontario native started his junior career with the Winchester Hawks of the CCHL Tier 2 where he scored 22 goals and 32 points over 44 games in the 2015-16 season.

Tanner grew up in a small community in Ottawa, which is one of the reasons why he choose Bryn.

“Well it has the home feeling of a small community, similar to where I grew up” said Schroeder. “I was really attracted to the smaller classroom sizes that they offer for business students and the networks they had available coming out of school”.

Outside the of his classroom smarts, he was seen by Bryn College through various CCHL showcases and by watching his games on Hockey Tv. Which is where the college really liked his hockey sense and work ethic.

“Coach Burke was a strong believer that I could really help create a bit of depth in the lineup for next year coming into next season. He was able to explain how with hard work and dedication I could become a top player in their organization after a few years of development” mentioned Schroeder on his commitment.

The Nepean Raiders 10th round pick in 2014 bounced around the Ottawa Valley’s minor hockey system over the last few years. He was originally started playing with the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings Bantam AA before joining the Cumberland Jr. Grads and Ottawa Senators programs for his minor and major midget seasons.

He currently has 12 points (6G/6A) over 36 games with the Lasers this season and is expected to begin his NCAA career at Bryn College next season.
