Power Rankings: Week 10

Carlos Verde, Communications Manager

  1. Carleton Place Canadians (23-2-1) | LW: 1 (–) | Results: 3-2SOW @ OJS, 4-0W @ ROC, 7-1W v KEM | So that’s what 14-straight wins looks like.
  2. Ottawa Jr. Senators (17-4-3) | LW: 2 (–) | Results: 3-2SOL v CP, 7-3L @ HAW | Not a good week for Marty Dagenais’s Jr. Sens, plain and simple. There is work to be done if Ottawa’s play is to live up to the hype of all its acquisitions.
  3. Hawkesbury Hawks (14-6-0) | LW: 3 (–) | Results: 7-3W v OJS, 5-3W @ NEP | The homeless Hawks just keep finding ways to win; Rick Dorval was quoted as saying his team isn’t respected. Maybe they ought to be, especially following a 7-3 butt-whooping of OJS.
  4. Brockville Braves (14-11-1) | LW: 5 (+1) | Results: 2-1OTL @ NEP, 6-3W v KEM, 6-2W @ PEM | Brockville’s balanced offence exploded for 12 goals on the weekend, and Jesse Winchester’s group did well to take five of six points on the week.
  5. Pembroke Lumber Kings (13-9-0) | LW: 4 (-1) | Results: 3-2OTW @ SF, 6-2L v BRO | It wasn’t a great week for the Lumber Kings, as Dale McTavish’s group snuck by stalled-out Smiths Falls before getting hammered by a .500 Brockville team on home ice. Perhaps last week’s four-spot jump was premature.
  6. Cornwall Colts (12-10-2) | LW: 8 (+2) | Results:  5-2W v ROC, 4-3W @ NAV | No Theodore, no problem. Nice bounce-back week for the Colts, who took care of business against lesser teams.
  7. Nepean Raiders (9-13-0) | LW: 9 (+2) | Results: 2-1OTW v BRO, 5-4W @ NAV, 5-3L v HAW | It’s weird: Nepean took four of six points from the week, but it still feels as though they aren’t at their best. Is there more to come from Darcy Findlay’s group, or are they destined to be on the outside looking in?
  8. Kanata Lasers (9-11-3) | LW: 7 (-1) | Results: 2-0L v NAV | A quiet single-game weekend was made even quieter for the Kanata Lasers by a poor 2-0 home loss to Navan on Thursday. Kanata has struggled to find an identity thus far, and its trend of ‘win one, lose one’ has them on a course to be .500 at best.
  9. Rockland Nationals (11-12-2) | LW: 6 (-3) | Results: 5-2L @ COR, 4-0L v CP, 3-1L v SF | Things have gone from bad to worse for Dan Sauve’s Nationals, who have lost seven in a row and are now in danger of falling back into the playoff race. Times are tough in Rockland — especially after a 3-1 loss to Smiths Falls on Sunday at home.
  10. Smiths Falls Bears (7-13-3) | LW: 12 (+2) | Results: 3-2OTL v PEM, 3-1W @ ROC | The Bears finally shrugged off their month-long, 10-game losing streak on Sunday with a win at Rockland, but Mark Grady’s team will have to do a lot more than win a single game to get back to .500 and restore its confidence.
  11. Navan Grads (7-16-0) | LW: 10 (-1) | Results: 2-0W @ KAN, 5-4L v NEP, 4-3L v COR | The week started brightly for Tony Iob’s Grads with a 2-0 road win in Kanata, but a pair of one-goal losses on home ice soured the week and leave Navan seven points out of a playoff spot.
  12. Kemptville 73’s (5-18-1) | LW: 11 (-1) | Results: 6-3L @ BRO, 7-1L @ CP | The road was not kind to Jeff Jordan’s 73’s this week, as Kemptville was outscored 13-4 en route to a pair of regulation losses. The 73’s are 10 points back of 8th-place Kanata, and will need to go on a serious run to claw back into the playoff picture.
