Late goal helps the Hawks defeat the Raiders 3-2

Chris Smith scored the game winning goal late in the game as the Hawkesbury Hawks defeat the the Nepean Raiders 3-2 in a home game at Nepean Sportsplex – Yzerman Arena in Hawkesbury. What's more, the Hawkesbury Hawks' offense had a big night, peppering the Raiders with 33 shots throughout the game.

David Jankowski contributed with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Chris Smith chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist). Olivier Gauthier did his part, adding 2 assists.

In the first, Buckley opened the scoring for Nepean with a goal at 3:42 with helpers from his linemates, Belisle and Gauthier. Jankowski quickly followed with a goal at 5:04 with helpers from his linemates, Smith and Anderson.

In the second period, Beaudin-Tougas netted a goal at 1:23 with assists from his linemates, Gasuik and Anderson. Denomme answered for the Raiders with a goal at 19:32 with assists from his teammates Gauthier and Rowe.

In the third, Smith answered for Hawkesbury with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 19:07 with helpers from his linemates, Jankowski and Fournier.

The Hawks’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Brooks’ big night as he stopped 37 of the 39 shots he faced. Brooks’ counterpart, Souliere, also had a big night, managing to stop 30 of 33, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Hawkesbury Hawks’ record to (21-9-0-1).
