Horvath named November Academic Player of the Month

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is proud to announce that Nepean Raiders forward, Ryan Horvath has been named the Gongshow Academic Player of the Month for November.

Horvath, 18, is in his second season in the CCHL and first with the Raiders after playing for the Kanata Lasers last season. The Sittsville, ON native currently has 19 points (7G/12A) in 29 games with Nepean this season.

The Stanstead graduate is currently studying commerce in the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University.

“As school and hockey are both very important to me it’s definitely a challenge to balance university courses and a Jr. A hockey schedule” said Horvath. “Between late night games and practices every day, it gets pretty difficult to work my academics around hockey”.

Exams are right around the corner, making this award a giant accomplishment for Horvath.

“It’s definitely crunch time in class” mentioned Horvath. “Working around our schedule, I just have to be really efficient and disciplined with my studying”.

The Raiders forward is the second recipient of the award after Ottawa Jr. Sens forward, Elie Boulerice was the winner of the Academic Player of the Month in October.
