THE ROAD TO THE 2018 FRED PAGE CUP BEGINS TODAY

The Fred Page Cup committee proudly launches the logo and website for prestigious Eastern Canada Junior A Hockey Championship

OTTAWA, ON – January 8, 2018 – The Ottawa Jr. Senators are already getting to work on what will be a fantastic week of hockey May 2-6, 2018. The Jr. Sens who won the right to host the 2018 Fred Page Cup (FPC) last spring are all set to work on the event and pleased to launch the official logo and website. The four team Championship will consist of the winners from the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MHL), Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League, the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) champion and the host team (Ottawa Jr. Senators). The FPC showcases the best Jr. A teams in Eastern Canada with the winner joining four other teams in the RBC Cup where a National Champion will be crowned.

Martin Dagenais, Owner/GM/Head Coach of the Ottawa Jr. Sens is looking forward to a great week in the capital: “We have recruited a solid Host Organizing Committee (HOC) and we look forward to the event. We are confident the tournament will be well attended.”  The Jr. Sens and the league are looking to Tony House, Event Chair, and his expertise to organize the event. House who has managed two AAA Hockey Provincials (Midget and Bantam), the 2010 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships and the 2012 Fred Page Cup here in Ottawa feels confident about the efforts thus far: “We have a dedicated group who have all worked on hockey tournaments. We’re going to focus in on all the details to make this the most memorable FPC yet.” The HOC is pleased to share the official event logo and launch the 2018 FPC website: http://fredpagecup.pointstreaksites.com/view/fredpagecup.

The event taking place at the Jim Durrell Recreation Centre will consist of 8 games: six in the preliminary round, the semi-final on Saturday, May 5th at 7pm, and the Championship final taking place Sunday, May 6th at 4:00pm. The week will also feature an Alumni Game on Saturday, May 5th at 2:30pm. A group of OJS Alumnis will take on a team comprised of former NHL players. Tickets for the event will be on sale starting March 1st, 2018.
