CCHL Alumni Eric O’Dell named to Canada Olympic Roster

Ottawa, Ontario – Central Canada Hockey League Alumni Eric O’Dell has been named to Canada’s Olympic roster for the 2018 Winter Olympics. 

O’Dell started his minor hockey career with the Ottawa Sting Midget AA before joining the Ottawa West Golden Knights of EOJHL for the 2006-07 season. 

In his rookie season of Jr. Hockey with the Knights, O’Dell scored 28 goals and 48 points in 40 games prior to being called up to the Jr. Senators as a 16 year old for two games in the same season. 

He went on to play his age 17 season with the Cumberland Grads of the CCHL where he posted a total of 56 points, including 23 goals in just 34 games before being signed to an OHL contract by the Sudbury Wolves for the remainder of the season. After being called up to the Wolves from the Grads in 2007-08, O’Dell added to his remarkable season by scoring 32 points in 26 games (14G/18A) and later winning gold with Canada’s U-18 team. 

Shortly after the 2007-08 season, Eric O’Dell was drafted by Anaheim Ducks out of the second round. He went on to play three more seasons with Sudbury and was later acquired by the Winnipeg Jets, playing two seasons in the AHL before finally being called up to the NHL club in 2014-14. 

Since that time, O’Dell played one more season in the NHL (2014) and has since played in the AHL and KHL. 

The Central Canada Hockey League and CCHL along with Ottawa West and Navan are proud of O’Dell’s success, wishing him all the best with Team Canada at this years Winter Olympics.
