Bogart Cup Recap | Ottawa strikes first winning Game 1

Carleton Place, Ontario – A strong back and forth between both teams in Game 1 of the Bogart Cup finals ends with the Ottawa Junior Sens getting the 1st game in the series, 2-1.

All of the game’s scoring took place in the 2nd period where the Carleton Place Canadians struck first with a goal by Keenan Reynolds 8:40 into the 2nd. The goal was assisted by Samuel Knoblauch and Nick Pryce. From there, the Ottawa Junior Senators came back with 2 unanswered goals with a goal by Devon Daniels less than a minute later after the assist by Ellie Boulerice. Then 15:36 into the 2nd, Owen Guy was able to score a shorthanded goal to give Ottawa the lead. Nick Lalonde got the assist on the goal.

Connor Hicks came up big for the Junior Sens making 42 of a possible 43 saves in the game. Neither team was able to capitalize on the powerplay with Ottawa getting 4 powerplay opportunities and Carleton Place getting 5. The Canadians outshot the Junior Sens 43-24 despite the loss.

Next game in the series takes place in the Jim Durrell Sports Complex tomorrow (Saturday) night as the Jr. Sens will look to take a 2-0 lead in the Bogart Cup series. Puck drop is at 7:30.
